About us

Mind the Gap is an inclusive music group for people with mental and physical health issues in Norwich. We provide a friendly, safe environment to socialise with fellow musicians, play music, form bands, improve skills on guitar, bass, drums, songwriting, vocals and performance.

We have just started our new project “Pop in and Play’ funded by The National Lottery Awards for All and The Brief Community Fund.  We are running weekly music sessions at our local hospital with The Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust, taking music to people at critical point, alongside our regular Wednesday sessions.  We start more music on the 10th October World Mental Health Day working with Mind.  This project will build our ever growing musical community, offering a safe non-judgemental place for people leaving care.

We support new ideas and positively promote improved wellbeing through participation in music and creative processes. All levels welcome.

We meet every Wednesday at Plug Studios Norwich from 1pm til 5pm.  Drop in and get involved. As well as having 4 rooms of music, we also offer one on one tuition and bespoke sessions. If you can’t get to us, we can come to you for One on One lessons.

We are super pleased to announced that our photo came 2nd in the Norfolk Community Foundation Photo Challenge.  The judges said “Second place went to Mind the Gap music group, which is an inclusive music group for people with mental and physical health issues in Norwich. The picture showed an action shot of everyone getting their instruments together.  Mind the Gap will win £300 for coming second.”

The judging panel selected this picture because it was “a truly community-spirited photograph, which shows members of all ages and backgrounds supporting each other through mental health struggles and the everyday life issues while learning a new skill loved by all”.

We would like to thank The Big Lottery Fund and Norfolk Community Foundation and Love Norfolk for funding us,  Plug Studios for homing us also everyone who continues to support us.
